From "Dolce Vita" to New Life

The history of Bar del Porto begins in the 1950s, apparently out of a cave where fishermen stored their nets. A few years later, a woman named Lora Sabatini began to offer hospitality and refreshments to men returning from long days at sea. It then became the "Bar Miramare", better known as "Bar di Lora".

Between the end of the 1970s and the early 1980s, the bar’s ownership changed and the "Bar di Lora" was acquired by Roberto Properzio, a Milanese and a seaman, who at the end of a long trip on his sailboat, tired and tried, he landed in Porto Ercole. Enamoured by this corner of paradise, he decided to change his life by dedicating himself to the "Bar Miramare" which rom then on was to be called the "Bar del Porto".

This elegant bar soon became a symbol of the Golden Years of Porto Ercole and its waterfront a destination of the international jet set. A period also documented by the iconic images exhibited in the venue, pictures taken by the legendary American photographer Slim Aarons, who captured characters and places. “La Dolce Vita” returns to a New Life.

In 2019, "Bar del Porto" passed the helm to Capua Retail, which, while respecting the tradition and splendour of past years, maintained its original style, inspired by a luxury yacht, reminiscent of the atmosphere of "la Dolce Vita" of Porto Ercole and the coast.

Capua Retail is one of the companies controlled by Capua Investments, owned by the entrepreneur Fabrizio Capua.
